Alvaro "Cortes" Drake-Cortes, Project Manager
Cortes manages the implementation of the Pennsylvania Healthy Corner Store Initiative to help expand the successful Philadelphia program to other cities in Pennsylvania. Cortes has his master's degree in education. Cortes is also a mountain climber, having climbed Mount Fuji (Japan), the Zugspitze (Germany) and the Cerro Chato (Costa Rica).
Michelle Abel, Community Education Manager
Michelle manages our Heart Smarts program, which includes nutrition education and health screenings in corner stores. In addition, she works on the School Breakfast Policy Initiative, a study conducted in 8 Philadelphia middle schools designed to get students to eat One Healthy Breakfast each day. Michelle holds a Master of Science degree in public health. Fun fact: Michelle has both a United States and United Kingdom passport.
Ana Ramos, New Jersey Food Access Project Manager
Ana works with partners across the state of New Jersey to provide technical assistance and support for their healthy corner store programs as well as direct programming with the Camden Healthy Corner Store Network. Ana speaks three languages and has traveled to seven countries so far!
Donna Cole, Community Education Coordinator
Donna works to promote healthy choices in corner stores by conducting nutrition lesson and helping participants shop for heart healthy items. Donna has her master's in public health and loves to try new food recipes!
Jen Tepel, Manager
Jen provides direct support to corner store owners in Philadelphia and helps them stock and profitably market healthy products. Before coming to The Food Trust, Jen taught English in rural Spain, and has traveled through Eastern Europe, Norway and Morocco.
Lindsey Weston, Community Education Coordinator
Lindsey works to promote healthy choices in corner stores by conducting nutrition lessons and helping participants shop for heart-healthy items in Philadelphia and Camden. She has her bachelor's degree in social work and Spanish. In her spare time, Lindsey loves to explore new recipes and read.
Ayanna Moore, Project Associate
Ayanna works on developing the Healthy Corner Store Initiative in Wilmington, DE. Though a proud resident of Wilmington, DE, she was actually born and raised in Philadelphia. Ayanna received her BA in studio art from Temple University and masters in organizational leadership from Wilmington Unveristy. Prior to becoming an employee, she used to volunteer with The Food Trust's various programs. In her spare time, Ayana enjoys dancing to "Juju" on the beat with her two sons.
