What is Drink Up Philly?
What is The Food Trust doing?
In the next year, The Food Trust – in partnership with the City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s Get Healthy Philly initiative, the Philadelphia Water Department and other local partners – will increase the availability and marketing of water in Philadelphia corner stores, schools, farmers’ markets, and Night Market events, reaching more than half a million residents with the message that water is a healthy choice. This far-reaching campaign will work to increase consumption of water and educate children and families on the importance of drinking water every day.
“As summer starts to heat up, the Drink Up Philly campaign will promote water as a healthy choice that we can all make every day. We want to thank the Partnership for a Healthier America for choosing Philadelphia to launch the first citywide Drink Up campaign, and we're grateful to all the corner store operators, food truck vendors, youth leaders and community groups who will be helping us to spread the word about the importance of drinking water.” Yael Lehmann, Executive Director of The Food Trust.
“Philadelphia is the perfect location for our first Drink Up citywide effort. We have already seen tremendous support from the community encouraging people to drink more water more often," said PHA CEO Lawrence A. Soler. “We look forward to the great work that The Food Trust will do across Philly to spread the word that you are what you drink, and when you drink water, you drink up.”
Given that water makes up 75% of body weight and is the most prominent component of the human body, it’s not a big stretch to say, you are what you drink. So, cheers! Drink Up, Philly, and choose water as your beverage.
WAT-AAH! is proud to partner with Drink Up Philly for its launch. We pledge to align with Food Trust to increase the marketing and ultimately consumption of water in Philadelphia. WAT-AAH! will advocate healthy hydration by continuing its mission to make water undeniably “cool” to its target demographic, kids and teens. WAT-AAH! works on a national level to support Drink Up through various events, digital media platforms and its nationwide traveling street art exhibit “WAT-AAH!’s Taking Back the Streets”. Additionally, WAT-AAH! will further its support of Drink Up through a soon to be announced nationwide TV ad campaign for back-to-school.
In line with our mission to help young people grow into healthy adults by supporting them in empowering themselves to make healthy choices, Philadelphia FIGHT’s Youth Health Empowerment Project will be joining the Drink Up Philly campaign and will only serve water at our Step Up Against AIDS event on June 5th, 2014.
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is proud to be a collaborator with Drink Up Philly. We pledge to support schools and out-of-school-time sites with free resources and technical assistance as they offer drinking water at every meal and snack along with healthier food options for all students- reaching more than 40 schools and 40 out-of-school-time sites in Philadelphia.
