About the Market

Common Ground Marketplace's expanded 2015 season

Established in 2014, The Food Trust along with Congregation Rodeph Shalom staff and lay leaders have established a new farmers’ market on the congregation’s grounds at Broad and Mt. Vernon Streets.  At the new Broad & Mt. Vernon Farmers’ Market, regional farmers and other local food purveyors will provide affordable, farm-fresh food to synagogue members and residents of the surrounding community.

Now in its second season, Common Ground Marketplace has expanded its vision with new initiatives such as “Checkup from the Neck Up” headed by The Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Center. This multifaceted market creates a connective framework that builds lasting relationships and opportunities relevant to the community.

Philly Urban Farm & Market Tours

Central to its mission as a neighborhood meeting place, Common Ground Marketplace is launching the brand-new Philly Urban Farm & Market Tours during market hours, connecting Philadelphians with urban farms located within walking or biking distance of Broad and Mt. Vernon streets.

Every Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., participants will embark on a 45-minute guided walking or biking tour of a nearby urban farm, followed by a tour of Common Ground Marketplace (bicycles provided by Indego, in partnership with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia).
