Community Nutrition Coordinator (Philadelphia)

The Food Trust is a national nonprofit based in Philadelphia with over 32 years of experience connecting communities with healthy food and nutrition education programming. Our mission is “delicious, nutritious food for all,” and our holistic approach to nutrition security is based on the belief that we should all be able to find, afford and learn about the foods that support our health and bring us joy. The Food Trust is seeking an energetic and passionate educator to teach a variety of nutrition curricula in a range of community settings in Philadelphia.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Outgoing and comfortable engaging people in conversation
  • Meticulous about data tracking and data entry and has a working knowledge of Google Sheets and other data tracking apps and software
  • Flexible and can work in a variety of settings – from health clinics to farmers markets – providing education both in groups and one-on-one

This is a full-time position. Spanish fluency is preferred.

Community Nutrition Coordinator (Reading, PA)

The Food Trust is seeking an educator to teach nutrition programming in farmers markets, corner stores and other community sites in Reading, PA, with a goal of reaching SNAP-eligible adults. In this role, you will:

  • Engage adult learners in nutrition education lessons in a variety of community settings — farmers markets, health clinics and more — in both small group classes and 1:1
  • Prepare healthy recipes for cooking demos and taste tests — ServSafe training provided if needed!
  • Partner with your team and community members to develop special projects, with a focus on fostering public health (recent projects have included installing community fridges and helping corner stores source local produce)
  • Research and share additional resources promoting food access, physical activity and healthy eating
  • Track your work’s impact using surveys and spreadsheets

 

This is a full-time position. Spanish fluency is preferred.

Director, Healthy Food Access (Philadelphia/Hybrid)

The Food Trust is recruiting a Director of Healthy Food Access to oversee all healthy food access programming and related activities at The Food Trust. This position will help guide the healthy food access aspect of key Food Trust programming initiatives. The Director of Healthy Food Access provides technical guidance for programs such as Healthy Food Financing and Farmers Markets and related policy and technical assistance work.

A member of The Food Trust’s Senior Leadership team, the Director will work closely with internal staff to ensure strong guidance in programs and will work to connect healthy food access programs with other projects at the organization. In addition, the position will maintain external contact with government agencies, partner nonprofit organizations and businesses, educational institutions, policymakers, vendors, professional colleagues, consultants and members of the community.

Internship: Healthy Food Financing

The Food Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and committed intern to help support the Healthy Food Access team in the implementation of multiple state-level Healthy Food Financing Initiatives (HFFIs). The Food Trust’s Healthy Food Access work combines rigorous research and policy advocacy to forge innovative public/private partnerships that bring grocery stores and other fresh food retail markets to underserved areas. This intern position provides an ideal opportunity for an individual interested in public policy, public health, research, urban planning, food systems and/or community and economic development to learn about the diverse efforts and strategies of a nationally recognized organization while building communication skills and practical experience.
