Robin Abreu, owner of Riverfront Supermarket in Camden, NJ, has seen firsthand the powerful impact of strong community partnerships. Through The Food Trust’s Healthy Corner Store Initiative, store owners like Robin are making nutritious food more accessible and inspiring healthier lifestyles across their neighborhoods.
Through in-store nutrition education and nutrition incentives, the Healthy Corner Store Initiative program works to ensure that residents have access to delicious, nutritious food and information to choose healthier options in their local corner store. The Food Trust also supports store owners in activating their businesses as community health hubs by providing training, equipment, and marketing materials to store and display the new healthy items they have introduced.
Robin shares that Riverfront Supermarket’s partnership, which started back in 2013, has not only transformed their business but has also “fostered a culture of wellbeing within the community,” creating a more nourished and vibrant neighborhood. Looking ahead, Riverfront Supermarket is excited to continue growing, with plans to offer even more healthy options.
Robin’s message is clear: “Together, we can make a lasting difference — one healthy choice at a time.”
