As President & CEO of The Food Trust, Mark provides strategic oversight of the organization and works to optimize its capacity in the areas of finance, operations and human capital. He provides strong leadership and management to the organization’s passionate and committed staff, while leveraging his creativity, financial acumen and business savvy to maximize impact. Under Mark’s leadership, The Food Trust engaged in a deeply participatory process to develop and launch its 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, Partners in Promoting Nutrition Security, which charts the organization’s future direction in service of its mission of delicious, nutritious food for all.
Mark brings an extensive and proven track record in community-focused leadership, having served previously as the Director of Workforce Strategies of the State of New Jersey’s Department of Labor, as well as President and CEO of Philadelphia Works, Inc. Mark has also served on the board of trustees for Pierce College and the Community College of Philadelphia, and on the board of advisors for PNC Bank Community Development and the Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity. A Fellow for Temple University’s Center on Regional Politics, Edwards holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College.
