As Philadelphia schools close for the summer, we’re taking a moment to reflect on The Food Trust’s incredible journey as a SNAP-Ed partner.

Since 1993, our nutrition educators have worked in local public schools to help students build lifelong food skills through hands-on cooking lessons, school garden building, farm field trips, and conversations about where food comes from. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of building meaningful relationships with students, teachers, school staff, and community partners across the region.

As SNAP-Ed comes to an end in Pennsylvania, we’re filled with gratitude for everyone who made this work possible. Thank you for welcoming us into your classrooms, schools and communities. It has been an honor to learn and grow alongside you (special shout-out to the students who wrote goodbye cards to our wonderful nutrition educators, whose work will be pivoting to new projects this fall).

While this chapter is ending, The Food Trust’s commitment to nutrition education is not. We will continue helping people build the knowledge, skills and confidence to make healthy choices through in-person and virtual learning, curriculum development, professional training, partner convenings, and other innovative approaches.

If you believe that food skills are essential to nutrition security, please consider supporting this work with a gift to The Food Trust. Together, we can ensure that nutrition education continues to reach the communities that need it most.
